NOTHING BAD IN LIFE CAN HARM US!

Reading: John 11:45-57

The high priest, Caiaphas, and other members of the Sanhedrin planned to do away with Jesus. They were conspiring to kill him. But we are shown that God takes even the evil in the world, the evil that people do and turns it into good. He makes it serve his purposes to work for the good of those who love him and who place themselves in his care. This is the lesson our gospel reading is trying to put across.

Caiaphas said, “Can you not see that it is better for you to have one man die, than to have the whole nation destroyed?” And in parenthesis John wrote this for us. “(He did not say this on his own. It was rather as high priest for that year that he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation - and not for this nation only, but to gather into one all the dispersed children of God.)“

This is a good lesson for us to remember. Nothing bad in our lives can really harm us. In the long run, even possibly in the short run, God will work everything out for our good, if we just try to love him and trust him. The death of Christ led to his resurrection and ascension, but not only to his, to ours. All big and little unpleasantries in your life are being used by God for your good. Alleluia!
