"AN ACT OF THE WILL"

Gospel Reading: John 6:44-51

It is not our intelligence, it is not our ability to reason and understand that has brought us here to church today. It is God drawing us here, and our willingly accepting his pull. The only credit due us for being here is that we have responded to his attracting and pulling and drawing actions by willingly giving ourselves over to him to draw or send us wherever he wants. It is the same for those who enter heaven.

We enter heaven because God draws us there and we respond to his drawing action by surrendering our wills to him in faith. It is by willingly accepting the attracting force of God, and making ourselves do our best to live as he has taught that we arrive at the fullness of salvation.

Our belief and salvation is not the result of intellectual reasoning and understanding, it is the result of our wills deliberately and freely accepting and committing ourselves to God and his teachings whether we understand him and his teachings or not.

Salvation becomes ours not through any reasoning by our intelligence, but by a decision of our wills. It is taking God and his words on faith, not on reasonableness.

“No one can come to me,” Jesus said, “unless the Father who sent me draws him.” Your Father is drawing you right now with the power of his love. Keep giving in to it.
