"ASK JESUS TO PRAY FOR YOU"

Reading: John 17:20-26

Do you ever ask people to pray for you? I hope you are not too proud to do that. Rarely does a day go by that somebody doesn’t ask me to pray for them. I hope you remember me in your prayers too.

We are all in a world that is really not our home. There are a lot of things in this world that would like to keep us from ever getting to the one where we really belong. Praying is just what we need to do, but not only for ourselves — for one another. Ever think of asking Jesus Christ to pray for you?

We ask Mary quite often. “Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death,” we ask her many times a day. How about asking Jesus. After all, isn’t that his job? Jesus is Lord and Savior. He didn’t retire from that job after his death and resurrection. He ascended into heaven so he can keep reminding his Father until the end of time just what it is we all still need to bring us into the full enjoyment of our salvation.

“I do not pray for my disciples alone,” Jesus told his Father while he was on earth. “I pray also for those who will believe in me through their word, that all may be one as you, Father, are in me, and I in you; I pray that they may be one in us.”

Ask Jesus to pray for you, ask the Holy Spirit to pray for you, don’t try to do all of life on your own. Ask your mother—in—law to pray for you. I am sure she thinks you need it. Now, let us do what we are here for. Offer Mass, and pray!
