"DIAL 1-800-HOLY-SPIRIT"

Reading: John 16:2—15

Jesus came to reveal the truth about God. But not all of it at once. There is much more to come. What Jesus taught us about divinity may seem like more than enough for us to know and understand, but it only scratches the surface.

“I have much more to tell you,” Jesus said to his disciples, “but you cannot bear it now. When he comes, however, being the Spirit of truth he will guide you to all truth.”

Jesus did not promise any one person all the truth. He is referring to the accumulated knowledge of the entire human race that will come through the course of however many centuries remain for the world. The Holy Spirit would reveal some to one person and some to another throughout the course of time. And when it is all said and done, there will be much more remaining for us to learn during our lives in the hereafter. The book never closes on truth. For God is Truth, and there is no end to him.

God is infinite - unlimited - we are finite, that is, limited. We can absorb and contain just so much knowledge and truth. Will we someday have all we can handle? Or will God increase our capacity? Why not? He’s God, isn’t he? He can do it if he wants. For those really interested in truth, eternity will be anything but boring. It will be filled with new revelations and new discoveries.

Meanwhile, often make for yourself some quiet time and listen to the Holy Spirit. He is trying to tell you things that already are, and as Jesus says, “He will announce to you the things to come.” Interested? Just dial 1-800-HOLY-SPIRIT. It’s always a free call.
